Let’s face it, we don’t like waiting. We can’t stand sitting in traffic; even the Starbucks drive-thru line takes too long. We approach a red light and the first thing we do is reach for our phone, because, who wants to just sit and wait at the light for a whole 60 seconds.
With three little ones dinnertime is rarely calm. In fact, more times than not it is a messy pandemonium of spilled milk, fallen crumbs, and manner enforcing, but I wouldn’t trade that time for anything else. It's one of my favorite times of the day, nestled right in between the busyness of work and school and the chaos of a bedtime routine for three young kids.
Ok, I already know what you’re thinking after reading the title: “How do life hacks apply to faith; aren’t life hacks and faith opposite to one another?” I completely agree that our pursuit of God can take the hard work of perseverance, digging deeper in the Word, and spending uninterrupted time alone with God. But I also think there are many resources for our faith that we should take advantage of, and that’s what this post is all about.
Have you ever been in autopilot mode when you just do and say without really thinking; you’re more so just used to the routine and the language that comes along with it so you’re not always sensitive to the nuances of the experience. This is me just about every Monday through Friday from 6:45 am to 7:20 am. This is prime crunch time to get my three kids and me out the door and off to school.
Let’s face it, we all want to do well in life and receive praise or promotion for our hard work. So when I see someone else succeed in life, even if it’s a good friend, it can bring the temptation to feel not like I'm not doing enough or that I am not enough.
This recipe offers the best of both worlds- it satisfies your sweet tooth without sabotaging your healthy eating plan and I feel good about giving them to my kids. We eat them as snacks or a dessert and they’re AH-MAZING! You might have to make a couple batches at once because they don’t last long, at least not around here. You’ve been warned…
It doesn’t take much for us to get discouraged these days. Simply watching the nightly news, looking at our bank account, or scrolling through social media can cause the voice of discouragement to sweep over us. Discouragement is a natural inertia of this life and for us to live out the will of God for our lives we must be willing to do what it takes to defy this inevitable force and stay on track. I recently faced a discouraging situation with a girlfriend of mine.
Summer is still going strong! Try this refreshing watermelon pineapple punch at your next BBQ or get together. This recipe packs a fresh flavor punch, sweetened by nature itself! It’s a hit at any summer party and is a healthy alternative to the artificial drinks and “fruit” juices out there. Voila, summer in a glass!
Summer is almost over, well kinda. But, before we ride off into the proverbial sunset, let’s take a drive up the coast. If you’re feeling adventurous but don’t want the *sometimes* pretention that’s found in the heart of the City of Angels, Malibu is your spot! You get the best of everything in Malibu – the active beaches, great views of the ocean, low-key cafes, some of the most expensive homes in California, and an otherwise relaxed environment.
I enjoy light layers and ripped jeans for summer so the kimono is perfect! I picked up a couple stylish kimonos and have been switching them out constantly. They’re the perfect pieces to layer for dinner or throw over a dress for church. I usually style my kimonos with a simple cami and some comfy denims. Kimonos can be worn with cute sneakers or some heels. Make the kimono your own and have fun with it!
